The 62nd Maharashtra State Film Awards took place in Mumbai on September 10, where veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was posthumously awarded the Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award. His wife, renowned actress Helen, accepted the accolade on his behalf, expressing heartfelt thanks for the recognition and the love shown by fans.
During the event, Helen conveyed Salim Khan's appreciation to the audience, stating, "He sends his good wishes to all of you, to entire Maharashtra and India too." She emphasized his good health and strength, highlighting the significance of the award in honoring his contributions to Indian cinema.
Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar provided insights into the awards presented at the ceremony. The event was held at Ravindra Natya Mandir, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis distributing the Lifetime Achievement and Special Contribution Awards. Notably, the ceremony also celebrated the 125th birth anniversary of V. Shantaram, with awards named in his honor. Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar received the Chhatrapati V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award, while actor-director Prasad Oak was recognized with the Special Contribution Award.
Rani Mukerji also received the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award during the ceremony. She expressed her gratitude for being honored with an award named after a legendary figure in Indian cinema, emphasizing the personal significance of the recognition from her home state. "To receive an award named after Raj Kapoor ji is hugely humbling," she remarked, reflecting on the impact of such accolades on aspiring artists.
In her acceptance speech, Rani dedicated the award to the people of Maharashtra and the film industry, acknowledging the contributions of artists, technicians, and filmmakers. She expressed her hope to honor the legacy of those who paved the way for future generations of storytellers, stating, "I dedicate this award to Maharashtra and its film fraternity that calls this beautiful state home."
