The Nagpur Crime Branch has intensified its efforts to combat criminal activities in the city, conducting a series of operations on September 8 and 9. These operations resulted in the arrest of 21 individuals, including both accused and wanted suspects, across various locations. The total value of property seized during these operations exceeds ₹30.85 lakh, showcasing the scale of the crackdown.
Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Deepak Agrawal, the Crime Branch targeted multiple illegal activities, including the sale of banned nylon kite string, gambling, illicit liquor trade, and vehicle theft. The operations were strategically planned based on intelligence gathered from various sources, demonstrating the department's proactive approach to law enforcement.
One notable operation took place in the Yashodhara Nagar area, where the Social Security Team and the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit seized 180 pieces of banned Mono Kite nylon string, valued at approximately ₹5.40 lakh. Additionally, an e-rickshaw, a Suzuki moped, and a mobile phone were confiscated, bringing the total value of seized items in this operation to ₹7.45 lakh. A suspect was apprehended, while Faizan Ansari was identified as a wanted individual in connection with this case.
In another operation, the Anti-Vehicle Theft Team targeted the Kapil Nagar area, seizing between 30 to 40 vehicle engines and other spare parts, with an estimated value of around ₹30 lakh. A truck was also impounded during this operation. Furthermore, the Crime Branch successfully resolved a case of a stolen passenger bus in the Beltarodi area, detaining two suspects and recovering a Tata mini-bus.
The Crime Branch's operations extended to anti-gambling initiatives, with raids conducted at five locations, leading to the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of cash and gambling paraphernalia. Additional operations against the sale of illicit liquor were carried out in various neighborhoods, including Sakkardara and Khaparkheda. The police also arrested two individuals for carrying illegal weapons in Wadi and Imamwada, further highlighting their commitment to curbing crime.
The sustained efforts by the Crime Branch reflect a determined stance against illegal activities in Nagpur. Authorities have indicated that they will continue to ramp up their operations to ensure public safety and uphold the law in the city.
