Nagpur Gears Up for the Historic Marbat Festival

The vibrant Marbat festival, a cherished cultural event in Nagpur for 145 years, is scheduled to commence at Gandhi Putla Chowk at noon this Friday. This year's celebration is anticipated to draw a significant crowd, including foreign delegates and local dignitaries, highlighting the festival's importance in the region.

The festival will be graced by several notable figures, including Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. Additionally, international representatives from countries such as France, Italy, Finland, and Norway are expected to attend, alongside celebrities like actor Jackie Shroff and cricketer Umesh Yadav, enhancing the event's profile.

To ensure a grand presentation, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has made extensive arrangements. These include the installation of decorative welcome gates and stages along the festival route, which spans several key locations such as Kumbharpura Chowk and Golibar Chowk. The NMC aims to showcase the festival to both national and international audiences, emphasizing Nagpur's cultural heritage.

In a related initiative, the NMC, in collaboration with the Orange City Photographers Club, has organized a photography exhibition at Suresh Bhat Auditorium. This exhibition features both rare and contemporary photographs that document the evolution of the Marbat festival. The event recognized outstanding contributions, with Aniruddhasingh Dinore winning first prize, followed by Rahul Mishra and Yugal Savarkar.
