Education Minister Launches Model School Initiative in Nagpur

On Wednesday, Nagpur's State School Education Minister Dada Bhuse embarked on a visit to five schools as part of the 'Chala Shaalet Jaauya' campaign, aimed at enhancing educational standards. During his tour, he announced that three schools would be transformed into model institutions, showcasing best practices for others to follow. The selected schools include a Zilla Parishad primary school in Chankapur, Saraswati Vidyalaya, and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation's PM Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Secondary Vidyalaya located in Hanuman Nagar.
The minister's visit included a meeting with education officials and school principals at St Ursula Girls High School, where he highlighted the necessity of improving the quality of education in state-board schools. At the ZP primary school in Chankapur, Bhuse personally sampled the midday meal provided to students to assess its quality and inspected the school's facilities. He inaugurated the new 'IDEAL Center,' designed for interactive digital learning, and noted the presence of an AI lab and free transportation for students.
At the Hanuman Nagar school, Bhuse reviewed modernization efforts alongside Mayor Neeta Thakre. He mandated that all schools conduct a weekly patriotic song drill every Saturday and announced the expansion of the 'Rani Lakshmibai self-defense training camp' to include NMC schools. Additionally, Thakre requested Bhuse to consider transitioning NMC schools up to 10th grade to the CBSE curriculum and to seek state approval for junior colleges as necessary. Bhuse assured her that a formal proposal would be favorably considered.
During his inspections, Bhuse raised concerns regarding a shortage of physical education teachers, pending development funds, and delays in providing promised shoes with uniforms to NMC students. He urged officials to replicate the successful initiatives of the Hanuman Nagar school, which is a collaboration between NMC and Aakansha Foundation, across other municipal schools, particularly focusing on those with low enrollment that are at risk of closure.
At Saraswati Vidyalaya, which ranked second statewide in the 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Shala, Sundar Shala' initiative, Bhuse participated in a morning prayer with students and assessed their reading skills. He emphasized the school's strong academic performance and commitment to Marathi-language instruction, urging officials to plan for its development into a model school with enhanced infrastructure and student-focused programs. Bhuse also visited Seva Sadan High School in Sitabuldi to review skill development and arts programs, and interacted with management at St Anne’s English Medium School in Chankapur to discuss various initiatives aimed at overall student development.
